Subwoofer

A bandpass sub woofer enclosure provides you with the best quality of sound from your subwoofers. It can be installed in cars or other vehicles too. Subwoofers need more speaker power as we cannot distinguish sounds at lower frequencies. A higher low frequency sound level is required to make the music or recordings sound good. A small pass intersect is necessary to obstruct high level frequencies of sound. A bigger subwoofer will produce deeper sounds, but will need a larger box and thus more space, it is not necessary that a larger size is always better in quality as larger subwoofers might respond slowly and smaller subwoofers might produce a sharp and a more controlled sound.

Bandpass

This is a type of enclosure which encloses a subwoofer and is a combination of a sealed box and a ported box enclosure. A sealed box is most simple to build and gives the lowest sound response with overall good quality at lower frequencies. Ported boxes are generally larger in size than sealed boxes and consist of a tube which lets out air from the box. The speaker port removes or takes in air at the same time as the woofer thus adding force to the bass. Bandpass subwoofer enclosures will give more low sound than sealed and ported boxes at lower frequencies but has a smaller range. As the box filters the sound and mechanically blocks the upper and lower frequencies a crossover is eliminated. These enclosures are big and sound terrible if accurate volumes and port sizes are not adhered to. These bandpass boxes tend to cover every kind of disturbances and if you cannot hear the disturbance and switch off your stereo in time, you could damage the system. Some manufacturers make custom boxes which do not cost much and provide good performance.

    certainly yes
  2. A bandpass filter is simply a device that lets frequencies of a certain range through, and not others. In a sub woofer system there will be a crossover (a device that lets in the low frequencies and blocks the higher ones) you dont need to provide more power to the lower frequencies for it to be a good sound, all you need to do is to provide the sub with all the frequencies below 100Hz, andything more than that and it wont be as good.
  3. Definitely something that would be worth the cost. I love the look of it as well.
