Hifonics B15D2 Review

Missing Attachment

When car audio enthusiasts think of the name Hifonics, they think of massive, powerful amplifiers like the Titan or Brutus series monoblock amplifiers. Hifonics? other audio components like their powerful subwoofers would often be overlooked. However, this will soon change with the introduction of the Brutus Series subwoofers.

The B15D2 is a massive 15? subwoofer capable of handling 700 watts RMS and 1400 watts maximum power. It features a standard polypropylene cone woofer that is sure to provide excellent durability, flexibility, and consistency of sound quality and optimal performance. The Hifonics B15D2 features a unique NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber) surround material that is stitched instead of glued or pressed onto the woofer structure, providing excellent resistance to wear and tear which will allow users to operate the subwoofer at prolonged periods of time at optimal levels.

This powerful subwoofer is wired at dual 2 ohms impedance that features 3? 4-layer high-temp aluminum voice coils that will keep heat generation to a minimal which also adds to its ability to perform well for long periods of time. It also features a single construction spider tinsel lead with Nomex spider composition. It has specially designed magnet boot that is constructed to reduce resonance or mechanical noise from the subwoofer as much as possible so no distortion or other unwanted noise will come be put out by the B15D2 subwoofer.

This Hifonic subwoofer is capable for a 15mm Xmax performance, which means that the maximum distance of the cone moving in one direction is 15mm during a maximum bass reproduction. In addition, it features an 88 dB SPL rating which would result in an above average energy-to-volume conversion, which to you just means LOUD. It even features a massive 100oz. Double-stacked magnet structure that is constructed with hard-pounding bass in mind.
The only downside to the Hifonics B15D2 subwoofer is its apparent size. It?s massive, no doubt about that, and would need nearly 8? of mounting depth with a cutout of nearly 14? in diameter. The size results in the need for it to be placed in a large-volume subwoofer enclosure as well, ranging from 2 to over 3 cubic feet, depending on the application.

If you?re looking for serious bass with durability, you may have found a very affordable subwoofer in the Hifonics B15D2.
