Genesis Audiophile 16.03 Speaker Component Set Review

If you are looking?or listening, as the case may be?for a new set of speakers, this Genesis Audiophile component set may just be a great option for you. It comes with 6.5? woofers (a true 6.5?, not the Americanized close-to-6.5?-but-really-more-like-6?), tweeters, and passive networks. Basically, it comes with everything you need. Plus, it is all of great quality.

One of the first things you may notice about this component set is that it is clearly marked, ?Made in the E.U.,? which stands for ?European Union.? The Genesis set wasn?t made in China or Taiwan, believe it or not. In fact, each of its components was made in a different country in Europe?hence, the ?Made in the E.U.? tag. The woofers were made in Italy, the tweeters were made in Germany, and the passive networks were produced in England. You may wonder if this multi-national creation is really a good choice since it wasn?t all created in the same location?wonder no more, read on about the great features of this speaker set.

The tweeters have a soft dome design with Ferrofluid in the magnetic gap to help with damping control and power handling. They are a 1? coated silk. The basket of the woofer is a cast resin composite that is quite rigid, made to minimize resonance. The cone is made of fiberglass with aluminum at the front.
A custom aluminum extrusion contains the crossover networks. This custom housing protects the networks from heat and radio frequency noise. More protective housings like this are necessary with the larger computers that are common in cars these days?they radiate more noise into the crossover networks.

Now, the only possible issue with the Audiophile 16.03 is the deficiency in clear directions. This speaker set did not come with good details about various tweeter mounting schemes. Also, it is important to mount the woofer on a flat surface; an uneven surface can cause an issue with the composite basket. Although this is unlikely to happen with the Audiophile speaker set because the composite basket is quite stiff, it could still happen and it is best to use a flat surface. The manual did not mention this. Of course, it isn?t necessary for a speaker component set to have a manual that is the size of an encyclopedia; however, clearer details and a few specific (and necessary warnings) should be mentioned.

Aside from the manual, though, there really isn?t any problem with the Audiophile 16.03. It is relatively simple to install, it works well, and it has amazing sound. All of that, and the price is very right?it only costs $550 for this set. Plus, that includes a 3-year warranty if an authorized Genesis dealer installs the speakers. That is an incredible deal–$550 for the component set and a 3-year warranty is pretty much unheard of in the car audio world!

Anyone in need of a new speaker set should really check out the Genesis Audiophile 16.03 component set. After all, the only issue it has is with the manual?and, you know about that now, so what difference does it make?
