Sony has designed the slim XM-1S series of car audio amplifier for a small car stereo installation with a low profile that would make it fit under most of the front seats. On the outside of the amplifier the sleek inverted heat sink would keep all the important inner components running cool and last longer. The terminal covers that are removable keep all the connection wires of the system protected and offer a clean looking installation. In addition to this the Sony XM-1S mono amplifier is designed to offer nearly 290 watts of power to a single 4 ohm subwoofer or it would offer nearly 500 watts of power to a pair of subwoofers, so this is plenty of power for even the most power hungry subwoofer. The signal sensing speaker level inputs would automatically activate the amplifier when it is connected to an aftermarket radio so there is no remote turn on lead to be installed.

The Sony XM-1S is a monaural power single channel car stereo amplifier which is specially designed to power the subwoofer with a frequency response that ranges between 5Hz to 300Hz. The amplifier includes a peak power of 900 watts for 2 ohm. This mono amplifier uses the Class D technology to amplify and convert music signals with MOSFET to a high speed pulse signal. This technology features a low heat generation and high efficiency. The amplifier is designed with a variable low pass filter which is adjustable from 50 Hz to 300 Hz. The Sony XM-1S amplifier includes a Hi-Level speaker input that lets you connect the amplifier to a factory stereo that does not include a RCA output. The amplifier is also equipped with a Hi-Level sensing power on feature which lets the unit be activated without remote turn on connection. The amplifier also features a protection circuit along with an indicator for time when there is a short circuit or a bad ground.
