Arc Audio 4200SE Amplifier Review
This amplifier, from the legendary car audio guru Robert Zeff at Arc Audio, will certainly be a crowd-pleaser.? It has an incredible set of features that would thrill any car and/or music aficionado.? There really isn?t much of anything to dislike about the Arc Audio 4200SE Amplifier?except, perhaps, the price.
The Arc 4200SE retails for nearly $1400?which, for many people, will be an out-of-reach price point.? If money were no object, this would definitely be the amp to get for many cars; however, how many people can say that money is no object?? Despite the high price, though, it wouldn?t be surprising to see this become a popular seller.? After all, it does have some really amazing features.
To start with, the Arc 4200SE is a 4-channel amplifier, measuring about 19.5? x 18.5?.? The designers at Arc Audio created this amp with maximum noise isolation in mind, because they put the power connections on the opposite end of the unit from the signal connections.? There are other little aspects, too, that maximize the sonic performance and minimize the noise?very careful attention was paid to every tiny detail with this amplifier.
For people who like to tweak their amps, this amp has you covered.? Take off the brushed aluminum panel on top and you will find all types of switches and knobs?28, in fact.? More than enough to make any audiohead happy, that?s for sure.
There are also individual gain controls for each channel with the Arc 4200SE.? It would be easier to set up with just one control, to be sure; however, having individual controls allows for a better range of adjustment.? In all, the controls are extremely flexible?more so than just about any other amp on the market.? It is clear that this amplifier was designed by a true car audio lover.
Thermally, this unit performs very well.? It is one of the best 4-channel amplifiers out on the market, if you are looking specifically at the thermal performance.? The onboard fan cooling system manages quite well.
One interesting aspect that people who purchase the Arc 4200SE may notice is the way that the unit lights up.? The logo turns from blue to red at times?increasingly more often when the unit is warmer.? It turns out that this is due to the internal thermal mechanics.? Only if the light turns to a solid red is there a problem (the unit may be overheated).
People who like to customize their car audio will really like this amp because it comes with clear and direct instructions as to how to remove the custom ?Arc? logo and custom paint it.? Then the manual describes how to make the unit light up again once you are finished.? How cool is that?
In all, the Arc 4200SE is a highly-recommended amplifier?if you can afford to indulge.? It is jam-packed with excellent features (many more than are listed here), so if you are able to purchase it, you won?t be disappointed.
