How to install an amplifier?
Installing an amplifier for your car stereo is an important decision. It is important to maintain the quality level when one is installing the right amplifier to increase the overall sound quality of your system. The amplifier is also referred to as a power amp. The most important thing is to read the instructions that come with your amplifier.
Firstly, one must select a good location which provides good air circulation for your amplifier. Amplifiers can be installed in the trunk or under a seat in this case. One must use larger RCA cables to connect the low level input of the amplifier to the low level input of the radio. However, if your radio does not have a low level output then it can be connected for improved quality. It is liable to increase the distortion and noise in the sound system, so it is not recommended. One must connect the power antenna lead at the back of the radio to the amplifier remote turn-on (REM) input. When the radio is switched on, 12 volts should appear on the lead, and it must start the amplifier when connected to the main power leads. Use power and gauge cables of the recommended size. One needs to connect the ground cables before the RCA cables. Otherwise components in the system may be damaged when activated. One must use the same gauge cable for the amplifier ground (-) as one does for the amplifier battery (+). The ground cable should be kept as short as possible. One must use 16-12 gauge speaker wire according to low or high power, and then connect the wire from the speakers to the amplifier. The cables and wires must be connected to the right terminals. Then get ready to listen to the sweet sounds of music.
