It is often seen that a car stereo lacks a well defined sound output, even though it’s powered with powerful speakers, what goes wrong is the set up. You need to strike a perfect balance between the speakers, subwoofers and tweeters. Most times it is subwoofers that are neglected. People either go in for high end speakers or expensive tweeters without paying any heed to the subwoofer configuration. A good subwoofer generates the overall sound of a good car stereo. Low frequencies come barging out of a good subwoofer. The Emerson Mobile SA- 100 is a reasonably priced subwoofer that proves its worth.

The power handling of the Emerson Mobile SA-100 is rated at 350 watts RMS, which is fairly decent in terms of power. The power handling of the subwoofer is pretty good depending upon the frequency. The lower bass frequencies sound relatively better than the higher bass frequencies. The Emerson Mobile SA-100 responds well when pushed to the limit. Low frequency organ parts sounded powerful with a hint of audible distortion at low levels. The composite and detailed sound is not harsh on the ears.

As we immersed ourselves with “Robben Ford and the Blue Line’s”, ‘Handful of Blues’ we realized that The Emerson Mobile SA-100 was no stranger to handling low frequencies. ‘Roscoe Beck’s’ bass parts filled our ears with substantial ease. The sound was crisp and clear as it came out through the subwoofer. The Kick drum too sounded easy on the ears, not giving in to the low frequencies. The SA-100 sounded capable enough of handling the brunt of low frequencies. The drum parts that came out through the subwoofer had a detailed sound and never compromised with extreme low frequencies.
